A plain guide to match-winner, set, game-spread and total-game markets in tennis.
A match-winner market concerns the overall match result. A set market concerns one specified set, while a games handicap compares the number of games won after applying a line. A total-games market compares the match count with a line, subject to the event format and rules.
Best-of-three and best-of-five formats create different possible match lengths. Retirement, walkovers and delays may have special settlement rules, and those rules can differ by market. A live match also includes changing score and serve state that can affect price rapidly.
Confirm the competition format, player names, market period and settlement policy before comparing prices. Do not assume every tournament uses the same scoring or retirement treatment. The market wording should guide interpretation, not a generic tennis convention.
