Record the full context
For each entry, note the date, event, market, selection, odds at acceptance, stake, settlement and any void or cash-out adjustment. Include the reason you wrote down before the event. This makes it easier to spot whether a review is based on the original idea or hindsight.
Separate process from outcome
A well-documented decision can lose, and a poorly reasoned one can win. Review whether you understood the market and followed your own spending limit, not only the result. A small sample can swing sharply, so avoid claiming a reliable edge from a handful of tickets.
Use the record to set boundaries
Calculate net amounts honestly, including losing and void entries, and stop if record keeping becomes a way to justify chasing. A spreadsheet is an awareness tool, not a system for guaranteeing profit. If tracking feels stressful, take a break.
