Read the trigger condition
A bonus may require a specific count of scatter symbols, a symbol on a defined reel, a meter filling or another event. Some triggers can occur only in the base game, while others are exclusive to free spins. The rules panel gives the relevant conditions.
Feature names are not standardized
Two games can both use labels such as free spins or hold-and-win but behave differently. A bonus might change the grid, add multipliers or use a separate set of symbols. Check whether a feature has a retrigger rule or a fixed number of rounds.
No trigger is owed
A near miss or a long wait does not guarantee that a feature will appear. Do not increase a stake to force a trigger. Understand the mechanic first, then decide whether the game fits a pre-set entertainment budget.
