A guide to totals markets, half-goal and whole-goal lines, and the settlement difference between them.
An over/under market asks whether the combined goals for the stated teams and period finish above or below a line. Over 2.5 requires at least three goals; under 2.5 settles successfully at two goals or fewer. Always verify whether the line is for the full match, a half, one team or another period.
A whole-goal line can have a push: exactly three goals on a 3.0 line may return the stake under standard rules. A half-goal line cannot land exactly on the number. Quarter lines split a stake across adjacent whole and half lines, so a result at the boundary can settle partially.
A goals total does not say which team scores or when. It is a separate market from match result and both-teams-to-score. Check the score period and abandonment rules, then treat the price as a quote under uncertainty rather than as a match forecast.
